Oman Botanic Garden

When complete, the Oman Botanic Garden will be the first of its kind in Arabia, initially i was struggling to shoot because this garden was and still on the paper only, there was nothing but plant nurseries and porta cabin offices, i spend most of my time shooting in nurseries only, as i always do after taking standard/general shots, i start looking towards abstract/closeup compositons, when i stepped into between the rows of tree pots i made a composition only backlit leaves, first shot was boring because, exposure was for front light, then i have taken exposure for backlit, which was like three/four stops over, this came out really interesting, that was the best shot of the day, later on i suggest it for a cover option, and finally it went to cover of the Tribute 2008.

HOPE AFLOAT and A WAY OF LIFE
Some other day i was shooting at the beach, sunset was not very intresting, so i start walking towards the boats where fishermen was gearing up for the evening fishing trip, beside some adults i found young boys preparing the nets and boats, after taking few shots i spoke to them in my broken arabic which i always do i mean i always interact with my subject asked about thier life and education, when i spoke to these boys they said they are brothers, when i asked about school they said they attend the school in the day, finish thier home works given by school teachers by afternoon and in the evening they go to the sea for fishing to support their family, i found it very intresting, than i have spoken to my deputy editor and given him the story idea for our The Week magazine he liked it and it not only carried in the The Week, later on it was carried in our annual publication Tribute 2008 issue.

It was a experience of a life time, me and my reporter colleague stayed in Desert nights camp in the Sharqiyah near Al Wasil town in Oman, for a story on this five star standard kind of camp in the middle of a desert, i personally feel sunrise was a great experience than the sunset, sea of clouds traveling low in dunes with the smooth breeze, when i was walking in the silken sand for a moment i felt that i am walking in the clouds.
